Outdoor and facade lighting for the hotel complex in Rust with a focus on atmosphere and function.

Story

For the Hotel am Park in Rust, AK Lichtdesign developed a comprehensive lighting concept for the outdoor facade and hotel complex.
The goal was to enhance architecture, pathways, and lounge areas through a precisely coordinated outdoor & facade lighting, creating an inviting, high-quality atmosphere for guests.
The result is a lighting design that harmoniously combines functionality, safety, and aesthetic presentation.

Challenge

The extensive outdoor areas of the hotel encompass different zones – facade areas, garden spaces, pathways, and lounge areas.
The challenge was to create a coherent lighting image that supports both orientation and atmosphere without disturbing the calm overall effect of the complex.
Additionally, architectural details were to be subtly highlighted, and lighting accents were to be placed so that they appear high-quality both by day and night.

Solution

The lighting design is based on a clearly structured plan across multiple levels:

  1. Facade Presentation
Targeted lighting accents emphasize the architectural lines of the hotel and give the building a calm, elegant presence at night.

  2. Atmospheric Outdoor Lighting
Warm-toned spotlights create depth, highlight plant and material structures, and produce an inviting ambiance for guests and visitors.

  3. Functional Pathway and Orientation Lighting
Glare-free luminaires ensure safe navigation and a harmonious overall appearance – technically precise, energy-efficient, and unobtrusive.

  4. Light Art & Mood Zones
Subtle light elements set artistic accents and enable different usage situations – from arrival to evening operations to events.

Through the combination of technical planning, atmospheric lighting design, and energy-efficient implementation, an outdoor concept emerged that visually strengthens the hotel: inviting, high-quality, characterful.
